Each year, somewhere between the 19th and 21st March, marks the spring equinox aka March equinox or vernal equinox.
Vernal means “new” or “fresh” and derives from the Latin word "ver" - spring.
As we get into the spring season it’s important to bring in the new. New beginnings and fresh starts are a must. So if you feel like your life has been falling apart lately. Then this is why, the universe is preparing you for the newness that awaits you.
The dark times are going to start going away now. Since the winter solstice (Between 19th - 21st Dec) though we have still been living in more darkness than light, as the nights have been longer than the day, each day we have gradually experienced more and more light, as the sun shines in the sky for longer and longer gradually each day. Physically the spring equinox brings an equal amount of light to the day as there is darkness, as the sun is in the sky for the same length of time as the moon. You may notice that things you have previously been unable to see, will begin to become illuminated, and you will be able to embrace growth now that you are in the light again. For some, this is going to mean walking away from people, or parts of ourselves that are holding us back, for others it will be about embracing our divinity that we have once overlooked.
Those of you who are manifesting something need to be making time for your manifestations on this day as the energies are extremely potent for creation.
This is your reminder, that better days are coming.
On this day:
- Embrace New Beginnings
- Do a Manifestation Ritual
- Step into Your Light
- Seek the Unknown
- Lean into Your Intuition
- Release anything holding you back
The history of easter
Easter is a Christian holiday that commemorates the resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is typically celebrated on the first Sunday following the first full moon after the vernal equinox, which falls between March 22 and April 25. It originated from early pagan festival called Ostara, that celebrated the arrival of spring.
The name "Easter" came from the word "ēostre, aka Ostara" which was the name of a pagan goddess of spring. Over time, Easter became an important Christian holiday and is celebrated around the world with various traditions and customs.
The Easter Bunny
The tradition of the Easter Bunny (Osterhase in German) is believed to have originated in Germany during the 16th century. The bunny was seen as a symbol of fertility and new life, due to its rapid rate of producing offspring and was eventually incorporated into Easter celebrations as a bringer of eggs and gifts that were left in baskets children had made and decorated.
