10 ways to prepare for the New Year

1. Reflect on your year - the good the bad and the ugly. What have you achieved, learned, let go of? How have you grown, what cycles have you repeated? How have you made yourself proud? Let yourself down?

2. Declutter & clean - your home, your electronic devices, your aura. Throw out old items and clothes you no longer need, clutter attracts low vibrations and stores it in your surroundings, get rid of anything that hasn’t been used this year first! Delete old pictures and message threads - especially those that cause you sadness or anger. Have a spiritual bath, use sacred smoke and or crystals to cleanse your aura. Consider doing a cleansing ritual to let go. The full moon is on the 15th a great time to release!

3. Show gratitude - no matter how tough this year has been for whatever reason there has been things to be thankful for. Write a list of things (no matter how small) you are grateful for and meditate on it. Remember that gratitude attracts more positive energy into your consciousness and the more you focus on the good the more likely you are to have more good experiences.

4. Show yourself grace - similarly to the last one, be sure to take some time out to appreciate yourself. Release any judgement or self criticism. You made it this far (even if you did it crawling on your belly, you’re here! You didn’t give up and you have another opportunity to create a 12 month cycle that looks more aligned to your dreams. Be proud of yourself!

5. Analyse your connections - do you feel safe, comfortable, loved and aligned with those you allow into your space on a regular basis? Having the wrong people around you can severely hinder you, physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually and intellectually. Avoid taking those you are trauma bonded with into the new year. It is your responsibility to set yourself up for success. Instead surround yourself with people that inspire you, support you and show you the consistency you deserve!

6. Indulge in yourself! This time of year is busy and demanding regardless of your beliefs or traditional customs. Make sure you take time out for yourself and engage in some form of self care. Feeling good from the inside can definitely set you up to aligning with other things and opportunities that help you to continue to feel good! Get your hair done, dress up, listen to your favourite music, elevate your bath/shower routine so it feels more “special”. You deserve it.

7. Connect with your spiritual journey guides. You can do this via meditation or getting a reading - but your spirit guides and ancestors can provide insights on how you have been or need to be connecting with your spiritual journey. The month of December harnesses the energy of family, so be sure not to neglect your ancestors and if you have an altar ensure that you are being present and honouring them with offerings and quality time.

8. Forgive! Forgive others for their shortcomings so that you don’t bring any resentment into the new year and most importantly forgive yourself for putting up with anything you know you don’t deserve. Forgiveness isn’t about how other people “get away with what they did” it’s about how you make peace with what was so you can let go and be truly happy. Don’t hold on to the pain of yesterday, every time you relive what injustice was done against you, you bear the pain again and again.

10. Make a vision board - making and displaying vision boards are great for progress. Firstly, they encourage you to harness your creativity and feminine energy which helps you to be open and inspired. But looking at them often encourages you to stay accountable as they stay in the forefront of your mind, subconsciously keeping you aligned with the energy that you want to manifest.
